Home - Ginny Yttrup

“…this is some of your best writing. Really.”

One friend declares this to the main character, Melanie, in Ginny Yttrup’s latest work, Home. And I would say that this novel is indeed some of Ginny’s best writing.

Really.

Ginny has a way of drawing you in, and enabling you to make an instant investment in the characters of her novels. Home is no exception.

Throughout 50 chapters I found myself having conversations with Melanie, asking questions like, “Really, Mel? WHAT is your problem? Craig is a babe! A babe with ethics. Hello!” I found myself pleading with Jill, and feeling deep empathy for Valerie. And with all of that going on, I still became engrossed with Chloe’s problem and saw how it was a reflection of Elliot’s own pain.

Then there’s Marcos, Quinn, and Serena. I could go on. The marvelous way Ginny has weaved all of these characters into this work makes Tom Clancy’s quote, “The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense,” all the more true. This story does make sense! Beautiful sense.

The Epilogue is as yummy as the peach cobbler served in the first chapter. Trust me, no matter how far you are running from something, you will want to go Home.
